This summer I met an amazing woman at Camp. Her name is Spesh and she is seriously one of the most amazing lady I have ever had the honor the spend time with. While I was a lifeguard she was on the Adventure Team at camp meaning she was on campouts all the time. We would hangout when we had an hour or two off at the same time. We would either take walks out of camp or just sit on the porch and talk about God, life, boys, etc. She once told me God taught her through parables in her own life. She began to tell me a story that happened two summers before...She was having a difficult summer and her and her husband had the day off from camp and they went on a day hike. She had ran and prepared and ate the right foods. Whereas Brice had just had just been sick. So they proceed to go on the hike and it ends up being incredibly hard for her, and Brice was just fine. She told me she was crying hiking up this mountain and was so upset. She began to ask God what she did wrong, did she not train enough? Sleep enough? eat the right food? God answered her in his loving way and said no. you didn't do anything wrong, sometimes it is just hard.
This semester life has been like that for me. I catch myself trying to find out what is wrong, am I not praying enough? sleeping enough? reading my bible enough? studying enough? exercising enough? eating right?
When I am upset and crying I am wondering why I'm crying, that I should stop being an emotional girl and sleep more.
Now there are times when I could do these things more haha, So I have tried to add more balance to my life. More time with the Lord, and more exercise primarily.
But primarily when life has been really tough on me this semester, when I feel down for no good reason and I am wondering what I am doing wrong. God reminds me of this conversation with Spesh and he just lets me know in his comforting way "Corrie, you are not doing anything wrong, sometimes its just hard."
I hope this encourages you. If your reading this. You may not actually be doing anything wrong, life may just be hard right now. Anyways it has been an encouraging reminder for me to write this.

Hi Corrie! Love your blog. Nicole
ReplyDeleteAwesome Blog. What a good reminder.... We live in a fallen, sinful world, and it sucks sometimes... But nevertheless, God is still good, his love never fails, and He will see us through
